Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging

We are committed to being an organisation that values, recognises and responds to the diverse needs of our school community including our pupils, staff, volunteers, parents and carers, governors, trustees, visitors and neighbours.  We aim to contribute to community cohesion through the positive influence and impact we can have in our local area.

We recognise, celebrate and value diversity within a culture of respect and co-operation. By providing equity and inclusion in our schools, we aim to create a positive environment and a shared sense of belonging for all who work, learn and use the services of the schools in our trust. We recognise that equality will only be achieved by the whole school community working together across the trust.

With diversity, equity and inclusion at the centre of our practice, we have identified the following equality objectives in order to realise our motto of 'EveryONE Matters' and provide a sense of belonging:

  • Foster an inclusive and respectful environment across all schools that celebrates diversity and ensures all pupils, staff, and stakeholders feel valued

  • To lead schools in developing inclusivity in all areas of practice, language and training to provide an inclusive curriculum where children are represented and seen

  • Close the attainment and achievement gaps for pupils from diverse backgrounds, including those from disadvantaged groups, ethnic minorities, and pupils with disabilities or special educational needs.

  • Prevent and address discrimination, harassment, and bullying in any form within the MAT’s schools.

  • Maintain transparency in reporting on equality objectives and progress, demonstrating accountability and commitment to improvement.

In accordance with The Equality Act 2010 (Specific Duties) Regulations 2011, we publish information to demonstrate how we are complying with the public sector equality duty and our equality objectives.

The following specific policies and objectives support our commitment:

  • ONE Academy Trust Equality & Diversity Policy

  • ONE Academy Trust Equality Duty Report (incorporating our objectives, progress and achievements)

  • Each school's Equality Duty Report (incorporating their objectives & progress)

  • Each school's Accessibility Plan (linked with their SEND planning and provision)

In addition, we consider equality & diversity and accessibility as part of all our policies and procedures and the principles of inclusion are embedded into all our practice.

Each of the schools within the trust incorporate equality objectives and accessibility planning within their individual school improvement/development plans.  For further information,  please see the individual school websites.

Central to One Academy Trust's approach is a clear vision which is 'lived and breathed' across all of the schools within the MAT. Trust leaders foster a culture of continuous improvement where safeguarding and the quality of education are prioritised to meet the individual needs/context of our settings. The Trust commits to developing a skilled workforce and strive to ensure that all staff feel valued and invested in, creating an ethos where 'Everyone Matters'.
